Now I want to talk about my experience in the IT world. Here it is:
It has been more than a year since I bought my MacBook, and use OS X Leopard. It is easy to use as it's advertised. Everything ready, everything has been set up, and just plug it to your network and everything just works fine. But several days ago, I just found its canine. Finally realized how complex and advance it is.
I updated the system to version 10.5.6. Soon after the update has been installed, I realized that my MySQL server didn't work anymore. It showed wrong error message said that '/tmp/mysql.sock' couldn't be found. I tried to find the solution in the internet but everything that they suggested could not help me to solve the problem.
In the end, I tried to reinstall the application. The old version that I have, didn't help me. So, I downloaded the new version that MySQL.com said it is compatible with Leopard. Finally the 'around 60 megabytes file' successfully downloaded. I installed it in my Mac, still the error occurred.
Day one, day two, day three... I still can't find a way to solve it. Still the tutorial in the internet can't help me much. In the middle of the third day, I have a simple bright idea (hehehe at least a good idea for me who doesn't expert in Unix system). I activated the root account, logout from mine, and login again using root account and reinstalled the MySQL. After it has been installed, I tried it in the root account. It works! Then I tried my final moves, login in my own account and start the server. Tadaaaaa...! now it works! ^^
So, that's it. It's a simple installation process that just need around a minute but cost me 3 days. Well, at least I'm happy now.... ^^
